About Us

Dr. Matt Bohrman, Optometrist

Whenever someone asks me why I became an optometrist, I always wish I had a better response. Turns out, I really don’t know what made me want to become an optometrist, but ever since I can remember “wanting to be something,” I’ve wanted to be an optometrist.

My dad’s an engineer and there are no optometrists in the family. My uncle’s a dentist, and that’s kind of like an optometrist for the mouth but I didn’t know a single optometrist. I had never even been to an optometrist. But I knew that’s what I wanted to be. So that’s what I did.

Graduate UAB School of Optometry

After playing basketball and graduating high school in Huntsville, AL, I attended the University of Tennessee and attained a BS in chemistry. Nothing had changed my desire to become an optometrist, so my next stop was back to Alabama for the UAB school of Optometry in Birmingham. And in 2011, after 4 years of schooling and a few broken bones, I realized playing basketball might just not be in my future anymore. But also, I graduated and moved to Chattanooga to begin my career in optometry.

Move to Chattanooga

Chattanooga gripped me pretty quickly once I moved here. The scenery, the lifestyle, everything was just so appealing and really scratched me right where I itched. I really saw myself adopting this city as my own and now that my life-long goal of being an optometrist had been accomplished, it was time to put the icing on the cake and care for patients at a practice I could call my own.

Chattanooga is everything I could want in a city. I take great pride and joy helping people maximize their enjoyment of the Scenic City – the gorgeous views just aren’t done justice without great vision.
